House fire kills mother and daughter

A mother and daughter have been killed in a deadly house fire that broke out in Kuliyapitiya, Senanigama area last night, the Police said.

The deceased mother had been 37 years-old while the daughter had only been eight years. The deceased lady’s husband and another child had also been inside the house during the time of the incident. The Police however said they haven’t suffered any harm due to the fire.

The cause for the fire has now been identified as a mosquito coil that was lit inside the house, the Police said. (LP)
