United National Party (UNP) chief ministerial candidate Harin Fernando today threatened to launch a death fast if the police and the other authorities continued to act biased in favour of the Government when maintaining law and order in the Uva Province.

This recurring "Death Fast" threat by our politicians is reminiscent of the "Wolf Cry" of the shepherd boy inthe childrens' book. I agree with him that the law should apply equally to all parties but fasting to death is not the answer as we might not only lose an honourable politician but also win no points.
