Hail storm in I'yagala

A mild hail storm occurred in Salgas junction in Iginiyagala this evening. The police said as a result of the hail storm and the windy conditions several houses in the area were damaged.
Roofs of 5 houses were complexly damaged while 20 houses were partially damaged. Electricity and telephone wires were also destroyed during the storm. Chunks of ice which had fallen had disrupted traffic in the area.
The Iginiyagala police, Ampara pradeshiya office and volunteers arrived at the area to help residents who were affected by the storm.
