Guest houses to come under strict surveillance

The police have taken steps to monitor guest houses under a strict plan to curb child molestations and rape cases. A circular had been issued by IGP N.K. Illangakone to all senior police officers in charge of each province and district to take necessary action against such places if they are found facilitating crimes and accommodating criminals.Recently the police raided a so called orphanage where they arrested an 85-year-old person for sexually abusing 13 under aged girls.
Police noted that the land was handed over to the caretaker of the orphanage by the suspect. However he had been visiting the children everyday.
The orphanage was subjected to be shut down by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and since then the children were at an orphanage in Kegalle.
They had confessed that the suspect had been sexually abusing them for a considerable period. Authorities then informed the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) which subsequently informed the police.
Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said that strict legal action would be taken against those who facilitate suspects to commit such crimes and also against places for accommodating them under the 286 sentence of 2006 Act 16 of the penal code.(Supun Dias)

I think all hotels,motels,inns & resorts should install cameras on each floor and entrance, this could reduce the crime

Since SL does not have the death penalty, what they need to do like in the US, is publicly publish names/photo's of the CONVICTED sex abuse/ rape criminals in each province. Since in SL, REPUTATION is considered very important, this might...just might encourage people to stop doing these things. There is some psychology involved here, hopefully the relevant authorities has some idea on this!!!

At least they do so openly, due to lack of means for privacy - they can hardly commit serious crime such as rape publicly?!

How the public can identify the criminals and wanted person by police? What about parliament and other councils which hold many crimes and black money robbers of public fund, who will be responsible for giving accommodation to this type of criminals.

Guest houses should be have their liberty to operate their own, especially for couples are concern. What's point of going to guest house all alone for holiday or recreation? Better to be at home and guest houses to be close down!

Would this directive apply to the guest houses owned and operated by UPFA politicians as well who are the main culprits carrying out child molestations inside these guest houses.
