Mahanayake Thera may not have objected to it, as it is not objectionable from the religious point of view. However we the people of Kandy vehemently object to it, as we are the ones who have to suffer on the days for practices, day before, day of races and the day after. Racing is a sport if done in a proper place, but night races in Kandy is purely a farce, may be for the benefit of a few.
