The government today charged that the Tamil youth in England had been hired by certain groups to carryout various activities including death threats against Sri Lankan cricketers who are participating in the ongoing Champions Trophy one day tournament, but assured the matter would be looked into by the government.

Chief Government whip Dinesh Gunawardene made this point when UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera urged to ensure the protection of Sri Lankan cricketers who had received death threats.

Mr. Jayasekera said he was waiting to raise this matter with the Sports Minister but expressed his displeasure over his absence in the House today.(Yohan  Perera)

"We don't want these fellows in UK". Like your sense of humor.

    sobers Friday, 21 June 2013 09:36 AM

Good reason for srilanka players after the loss. They were nervous, disturbed and threatened, that is why they lost the game!

    lohan Saturday, 22 June 2013 08:43 AM

I am sure you get the meaning. The LTTE terrorist thugs, the one time criminals.

gon rala Friday, 21 June 2013 09:59 AM

Those are bogus threats. Bitter truth is greedy super rich SL cricketers have sold themselves, the country's proud cricket history & good name as slaves to indian cricket by joining the IPL which is the death bed for all cricketers with talent. Only to make dirty indians richer whilst allowing cricket in other countries are destroyed.

    Ranil Friday, 21 June 2013 10:08 AM

This issue should be taken up at higher level. Our Sri Lankan High Commissioner in London could take this up with the authorities to let the banned LTTE terrorist group to organise protests which could be dangerous for British citizens as well as tourists. They should have in place regulations to take these terrorist supporters into custody and deal with them. These thugs should not be allowed on London streets or anywhere near the playing grounds. We don't want these fellows in UK.

This has nothing to do with our Sri Lankan cricketers, keep your politics out of sport, and the U.K needs to deport these guys back to Sri Lanka for justice they are trouble makers.

All minority asset & life in threat, who care's?

    ANTON Thursday, 20 June 2013 01:48 PM

DON'T WORRY, DO WHAT YOU DO, DO WELL.

All out for 181. so what?
Do you think that they should beat the world, everytime they play.
Our team beat Aussies and the English who are now in Finals. That is Cricket.

    Appreciate their achievements without complaining.

    Nishant Thursday, 20 June 2013 02:12 PM

Don't worry, they are all for 181. They can come back and be safe!

    kumar Thursday, 20 June 2013 02:17 PM

    Yes, Well said.

    lal Friday, 21 June 2013 03:19 AM

Going by the number of terrorist supporters at UK cricket venues shows how many layabouts there are in UK. They claim to be refugees but are full time dole bludgers bleeding UK's treasury. Britains will say "Enough is Enough", must be sick and tired of these elements.

    Anurasiri Thursday, 20 June 2013 03:24 PM

    who cares

    elroy Friday, 21 June 2013 11:48 AM

The are also like our cricketers, all talk
