The government today charged that the Tamil youth in England had been hired by certain groups to carryout various activities including death threats against Sri Lankan cricketers who are participating in the ongoing Champions Trophy one day tournament, but assured the matter would be looked into by the government.
Chief Government whip Dinesh Gunawardene made this point when UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera urged to ensure the protection of Sri Lankan cricketers who had received death threats.
Mr. Jayasekera said he was waiting to raise this matter with the Sports Minister but expressed his displeasure over his absence in the House today.
