The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) said today that the government is backtracking on it promises made to the Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.
TNA Parliamentarian Suresh Premachandra speaking to the Daily Mirror said that ministers have backtracked on their promise. “Several government ministers including the government cabinet spokesman have made various contradicting statements regarding the devolution of powers. The Indian External Affairs Minister made a public statement to the effect that during his discussions with the President, the President had promised him that the government would implement the 13th amendment and beyond and now many ministers have spoken to the contrary,” he said.

The TNA MP further went on to point out that the government has to date not given any proposal that address grievances. “We gave the government a proposal regarding the issues related to the Tamil community in March 2010 but to this day we have not received a clear response.”

Commenting on the proposed senate council Premachandran said that the council can be a part of a comprehensive solution but not the solution itself. “The senate is designed to share power with a centre, but what the people want is adequate powers to the provinces where the people residing in provinces could look after themselves and go about with their day to day affairs, the senate can be a part of the solution but it cannot be the solution for the ethnic issue itself,” he said. Krishna Came, Krishna saw, Krishna achieved. it was nicely stage managed. He got some commercial deals beneficial to India taking some on a ride backwards. The current issue is just a ploy for the Indians to have their foothold in the island to keep the chinese at bay

Government is only responsible for Sri Lanka citizens.
Any devolution or political package must be approved by sri lankans. Who is India? It has no meaning to us. India or Indians does not decide how we or sri lanka should do our biz. TNA can lick indian boots, but Sri Lankans won't.

Do you really think this government will implement anything ? It makes expedient comments to counter international criticism., ably supported by the likes of G.L.Peiris, who has prostituted his intellect. Do you think the LLRC recommendations will be acted on ? I do not think one should hold one's breath!!

What are Tamil grievances? TNA do not mention the grievances but request remedies. Ask Tamil people who are living in Colombo do they have any grievances. They live in Colombo and other parts of the Island and have all the rights the others have.

These are TNA's gimmiks to hold the power and also, why do India bother about SL. They did all the dirty work to help LTTE and now want us share power? What sharing when Tamils already have them

    Who is international community?
Are you refereing to few nations who murdered millions in Iraq, millions in Afghanistan and killed 200000 by bombing in Libya?
These few countries are not international community. These buchers has no right to talk about srilanka. AFter all untill all srilankans support this government what can they do? We shall protect our motherland srilanka even if we are to make suprime sacrifice. So called international community what you refer are the real and biggest murderes and war criminals in the world.
