External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris met the British High Commissioner on Monday to discuss the British Foreign Office travel advisory issued for British nationals visiting Sri Lanka.

“The minister asked that the travel advisory be amended in keeping with the developments in the North. We mentioned that there was no justification for such a travel advisory because there is stability and security in the country,” a source told the Daily Mirror.

The advisory said there was a heavy military presence throughout the country and a looming terrorist threat. (Dianne Silva)

First this lot insists that a heavy military presence is necessary to avoid re-emerging terrorism and then protests when governments advise their citizens based on this information! Who is being illogical?

what Britain advices it's citizens is entirely its own internal business, based on its assessment of the situation as they perceive it.
Going by the loads of people who seem to be fleeing the country on a daily basis (and getting caught in the process), send the message to the international community that something is terribly wrong here.

SL can issue travel advisory on UK.

Crime rate in the UK is very high.

Nobody really trusts anybody else in big British cities.
