Mega Aiyala Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:33 AM

What Govt. says about per capita is incorrect.

    Afker Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:31 AM

Its easy said that done when you are in opposition. While understanding that the cost of living has gone up . Increasing Salaries will only cause inflation and reduce the real value of Money . The Government should not print anymore money to finance deficits and appoint an independent currency board with educated economists and financial experts to decide on this process without interference . Further to this by eliminating wastage, corruption and the world record holidays in Sri Lanka will be in a better position to drive down cost further .

Mega Aiya. Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:28 AM

The reason is most of the Govt. departments, boards, authorities etc. are over staff, hence haven't got any productive job, rowing in their miracle 'fanta' seas, cannot imagine of such an increase which is actually marginal with rising inflation and cost of living.

    sampath Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:20 AM

govt says per capita income is now 2000 dollars. that means a family of five is making rs 1 lakh a month. so what are these UNP and trade unions jokers saying?

Cpt. James T. Kirk Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:19 AM

Fight for the future... just because an error was commited in the past, doesnt make it OK to ignore the present... people like you are the bane of society... Stand up or Shut up!

    Falnker Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:14 AM

heh .. from these comments i can really see either there are political goons paid by the government to put comments on these articles or there are people who are benefited by this so called "development" dosent want extra 10000 bucks...

Were fortunate that there is no 8th world countries or something way below the 3rd world countries...

Please speak for your selves, your loved ones (cant help if your loved ones are politicians ) and do something about it...

when someone finally speaks of something that ACTUALLY would benefit if materialized help it...

buriyani baba Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:13 AM

Don.t expose your unwiseness and to be a joker in the public. Talk with responsibility and get trust of the masses. Though I am a Gvt. servent My oppinion 90% of Gvt. servents not doing any work for their salary even now

    PWC Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:04 AM

How much of pay hike your government gave in the period of 2002-04 ???

    Ravy Thursday, 04 November 2010 08:49 AM

Is the Hon Perera MP also going to say how this rise will be funded? The over-bloated public sector is already a drain on the economy, further more the public servants pay no tax. If the so called "rich" countries are cutting down expenditure why should Sri-Lanka mortgage its future by excessively funding the public sector. Focus on efficiency related pay instead and pay the good public servants well!

    ajja Thursday, 04 November 2010 08:14 AM

UNP sent thousands of people home for Rs.10.00. Most of them commited suicide.Mr.Perera you were in that cabinet.

    Sandun Thursday, 04 November 2010 08:14 AM
