why is nobody interested or keen to make use of this garbage for compose, re-cycling or bio-gas which is environmentally friendly ?the garbage will never end except that it will keep on increasing which will pollute sri lanka and the earth.

would at least the next location be a proper recycling facility? or is it going to be another dump for the people of puttalam to complain about in another ten years?
Ram Tuesday, 26 May 2015 03:08 PM
It will have a bad stench all the way to Puttalam making the issue worse. Further the transport of garbage all that distance at what cost?

This is not the correct way of disposing solid waste in our country, this garbage pile is a a treasure if disposed and reused properly. Invite couple foreign countries and they will do the needful. I can remember some time back a German company came and due to politics they went back?I think this the right time with "yahapalanaya" we can achieve this mile stone as well.

Composting, recycling and production of bio gas helps to reduce garbage. But the final solution is either incineration or landfilling. Incineration is very costly. Therefore landfilling at Puttalam is a good proposal. But nothing will happen if politicians do not support the Project.

Bright idea. The whole population from Colombo to Puttalam will start demos when the stinking train starts operating.
