M.N. Naufer alias Potta Naufer, the under world gangster who was sentenced to death and imprisoned for the killing of High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya has been sued for Rs 50 million for demolishing a building at Second Cross Street, Pettah in Colombo.
On July 26, 2007 Potta Naufer in the company of several other gangsters had trespassed and demolished the building. The petitioner pleaded to claim Rs 50 million in all from the defendant as damages for the unlawful evacuation of the petitioner from the concerned premises. The court granted the defendant to file answer in January 14.
