Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) today said that they will be meeting the President in the evening for a discussion on the academics’ issues and their trade union demands.

FUTA President Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri told Daily Mirror Online a short while ago that they are confident of their ability to convince the President to grant them a salary hike once they explain the current plight of academics.

Meanwhile, another group of academics and Vice Chancellors met the President on Monday evening. FUTA wrote to the President last week, requesting for an appointment for discussions to settle the salary issue. (Lakna Paranamanna)
