He is the one of the greatest actors of all decades. As a human nature he was real human who sacrificed for welfare of our presently downed cinema. He introduced many stars to our screen. He should be remembered for many many years.

With the demise of Mr.Joe Abeywicrama, versatile actor in a
class by himself, there will be a huge void in sinhala cinema
that could not be refilled for a very long period.

A great actor who could hold his own with the best actors of the world, be it Anthony Quin or Rex Harrison. I remember going to his annex in Nugegoda in the late sixties with my good friend late (Judge) Upali Lenawa to take him to Trinco for a show and spending some time with him at Nager Kovil in the North during the sh0oting of the film, 'Vali Kathara by Mr.Nihalsinghe..Although he started off as a comedian he showed his mettle as a great character actor. Good Bye Mr.Joe Abeywickrama.
