Let's look at this seriously without connecting to unrelated factors. Some of the above comments cannot be ignored.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:16 AM

frogs are coming to see frogs .....ha ha ha ha

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:19 AM

Omigosh, export them to France immediately - will help us make up for the loss of foreign exchange in the garment sector.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:13 AM

Quite right Doctor, maybe one of them might become a prince...........................

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:17 AM

Animals tend to predict before disaster occurs......everyone simply be on alert....!!!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:31 AM

Please dont kill them. For whatever reason they are stormng, Frogs are a rare spicies in many parts of the world.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:33 AM

    We are being invaded !!!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:37 AM

The frog migration takes places in other parts of the world as well and even causes traffic delays. This happens due to climate change or change in the bio cycle in their habitat. In China the frogs migrated in large numbers. This was after the earthquake.

The message is not to kill or destroy the frogs. Follow them up and see for a change in the climate, well water, the area etc. so that if any natural disaster is forseen, such could be averted.

This is not a strange phenomena to be alarmed. By looking at the image you can see these are little ones coming out from waterways to start their second stage of their life cycle.

Frogs lay 1000s of eggs and many of them get destroyed due to lack of water or other reasons. But this time most of them have survived to become tadpoles and then to frogs. After the good rains in past few days they come out as usual to see you. This happens in the areas with vegetation and water.

If you examine Indibedda area you may find abandoned fish tanks or some big pond as their breeding place.

This is not a signal of Tsunami or any bad effect to the environment. Actually this is a good sign as these creatures survived like this.

Do we have nothing else to worry about?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 12:47 PM

hey sri lanka can export these to France... can get a few dollars to help the economy.. hick hic

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 01:15 PM

Not the truth. Please don’t mislead the mind of poor people. I have been in Japan for more than 27 years, faced many earthquakes’ and 2 tsunamis, frogs have not been discovered to behave like this before any quakes.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:09 AM

Perhaps we can form a new ministry to cut their legs and export... 'Frog Services Ministry' and appoint a recently jumped MP as the minister

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 01:39 PM

Do not critize educated gentlemen. Those frog only jumping side to side looking for better offers

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 02:18 PM

    not anymore .since you left..

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 03:14 PM

They've started a new movement, and we should follow suite! (Leave the well)

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 03:15 PM

    I love frogs!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:29 PM

Frogs are the newest form of LTTE? Transnational government has sent them to invade Sri Lanka?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:10 PM

It's a 'wild conspiracy'! First it was the 'tigers'; then the monkeys slapping our ministers around; now, it is the 'invasion' of the frogs!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 11:14 PM

Sure sign that the marshy-lands are polluted beyond tolerance!

    Friday, 14 May 2010 04:01 AM

May be some frustated ministers searching their departments and corporations .

    Friday, 14 May 2010 06:03 AM

Judging by some of the comments, one realises why our country is called "banana republic". We people r great at making ourselves the laughing stock! The article is about.... F R O G S, slimy creatures that live in swamps....ring any bells?

    Friday, 14 May 2010 06:48 AM

We in Sri Lanka use the age old saying 'linde inna gembo wage' (like frogs in the well) to imply a situation where people are woefully unaware of what happens around them and in the outside world. If frogs are endowed with super natural abilities as some commentators have pointed out, we are unnecessarily insulting poor frogs by continuing to use the above popular saying!

    Friday, 14 May 2010 08:15 AM

Send them back to Parliament, where they came from!!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:52 AM

    must be UPFA

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:56 AM

Because we all act like toads(frogs) in the well...

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:58 AM

I think they want to do politics now . It is not surprise when we look at our parliament

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:11 AM

All the frogs and toads are crawling out from under their stones.....the appointments for corporation chairmen are on !

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:13 AM

Frogs could also feel the changes in the earth and possibly predict earthquakes. This is according to a recent finding on earthquakes.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:14 AM

The frogs give a better service to the world,by balancing the environment, like controlling mosquitoes etc, more than human beings, So don't harm them.
Also, it may be another signal to say that another disaster like last Tsunami is approaching, be careful everyone please.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:19 AM

Frogs and snakes sense natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunami. Thousands of snakes were seen in the Batticaloa lake before the 2004 tsunami,

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:20 AM

It is not a joke, there should be some scientific answer to this movement.Like Shani suggested possibly a earth quake warning.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:23 AM

Did UDA demolish there homes ??????

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:23 AM

There are loads at Moratuwa University!!!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:31 AM

yes.. i too read that article... frogs/toads have the ability detect changes in the surface.. it could be a warning of impending disaster

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:35 AM

We have a lot of "frogs in the well" and "high jumping frogs" who change colours and jump to the other side at the drop of hat.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:53 AM

May be couple of recently elected UNP MPs.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:54 AM

Dr Jagath should explain what he means by environmental change - impending earthquake?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:13 AM

Fair enough...the politians have taken their(frogs) place so they have no place to go.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:17 AM

Maybe they are heading for an urgent Cabinet Meeting

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:25 AM

They have choosen the wrong area could have surfaced at parliment

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:26 AM

They have now realized that what they have seen everyday inside the well is not correct and come out to find the truth. This is a good sign.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:31 AM

    maybe be contaminated water

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:50 AM

Yet another "Exodus" as mentioned in the Bible going to happen?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:52 AM

hope these frog legs would be used productively

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:59 AM

Don't make relate everything to politics. It's about frogs, so let's talk about frogs. Not the UNP or UFPA or whatever.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:03 AM

Acid rain. When the acid levels of natural water bodies increase they'll try to leave them.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:09 AM

Recent science has proved that frogs has ability to sence natuarl disasters well in advance and they get activated before any other animal. Just pray such thing will not happen to our country.
    Cheers.
