Fresh efforts for MR-MS meeting

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Kumara Welgama said he would make fresh efforts to resolve any differences between President Maithripala Sirisena and his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa with a meeting to be held in May after Vesak.

He said president Sirisena is expected to give a date for a meeting soon.

Mr. Welgama said the earlier meeting between the two fell through because the former president was busy and out of Colombo. (Yohan Perera and Sanath Desmond)

President Maithripala Sirisena is a very respectable person. By cancelling the last meeting Mahinda snubbed President Maithripala Sirisena. Mahinda almost treated Maithree whom he would have killed if Mahinda won the elections, as a peon.If President Maithripala Sirisena is to meet Mahinda, then Mahinda should publicly apologize for cancelling the earlier meeting and should agree to meet President Sirisena in the presence of Chandrika.
