Forty couples nabbed

Forty eight couples including underage school students were taken into custody by the Kurunegala police after a raid on a hotel in Kurunegala. The raid was conducted   after the police received several complaints from the public.

48 of the 54 rooms were in use when the police raided the hotel and were mainly used for prostitution or as a meeting place for couples comprising of underage school students attending private classes. The manager of the hotel has been taken into police custody for questioning, while the couples who were arrested were severely warned and released.

    Poor fellows fallen victim as a result of going cheap hotels. You got to wait at the Lobby of any 5 star hotel for few minutes to see for yourself how many call girls hang around for customers!!

    Govt. should do what Castro did after the revolution in Cuba.
    Opened all the hotels and motels for lovers ,which were earlier
    used only by the wealthy . I salute him thousand times because he is not a hypocrite.
    Our Police have nothing else to do,and they and the politicians have enough places to take their ladies.

    Police cannot take action against elderly couples who were in the rooms as it is not an act of offence under the "Brothel Ordinance".
