Lawyers of General Sarath Fonseka will appear before the court martial on Tuesday and challenge the legality of trying the former Army Commander before a bench comprising officers junior to him in rank, the JVP said.

JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka told journalists a short while ago that there was no provision in the Army Act to court martial the General and such a trial was illegal.

He added that his party had already filed a case in the Court of Appeal challenging this decision by the military. (KB)
