It is high time for the opposition to forget all their differences and fight for justice. They must ask for the unstinted support of all religous leaders. It is very clear that the ghost of Idi Amin has been resurrected in Sri Lanka. This is not a joke.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:15 PM

He brought upon this sorry episode all by himself.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:15 PM

Very good move - this man is a traitor!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:14 PM

This is not a good move for the country. Really sad!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:12 PM

Disgrace on the so-called 'oldest democracy in Asia.' Daily Mirror - love the work you are doing with the breaking news!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:10 PM

He is our true war hero to whom the whole country should be grateful! This is definitely not the way to treat him. It is, indeed, shameful!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:05 PM

    Another 'cheap-shot' by MR.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:02 PM

The international community should intervene to save SL from this 'Hitler regime' ...

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:59 PM

This shows that the country is over militarized. The military is influencing all areas of civil activity. This is a bad sign and if it continues, we will become another North Korea!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:50 PM

Viva mother Sri Lanka! Another joyful day!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:45 PM

    Why?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:23 PM

NUTS ! Better have a good explanation or proof for the charges.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:35 PM

Wake-up Sri Lankans! Why are you still sleeping?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:28 PM

Sri Lanka sinks to new lows, in international embarrassment.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:19 PM

Trying to 'erase' the only evidence available ? 'Coming colours not good' for GOSL!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:14 PM

ABOUT TIME ... WELL DESERVED, FOR ALL THAT HE HAS SAID AND DONE! WELL DONE S.L.!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:11 PM

This is the reward for saving the country from the clutches of terrorists ... while ex-terrorists and thieves are given tight security.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 09:04 PM

SIR SARATH FONSEKA, WE ARE WITH YOU! (KUWAIT.)

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:58 PM

Release General Sarath Fonseka! Stop Political Harassment! Long Live Democracy!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:53 PM

Democracy is less understood in Sri Lanka. Power is always misused by the center.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:51 PM

May the Triple-Gem bless you Sir!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:49 PM

Fredrica Jansz ... are you happy now?

    Thursday, 11 February 2010 06:29 AM

    yes

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:38 PM

well done!!! This soldier against the constitotion of srilanka. After investigation must remove his civil rights.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:59 PM

SF is the only person in this God forsaken country who had the guts to stand up against a tyranical regime. He is a true leader and now twice the hero MR thinks he is. Whatever it is, he will go through it with his head held high and will be acclaimed the world over.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:46 PM

The way this peopl behave is so shamful... "Revenge" i call this move, it's not a good sign of leader. The good leader's have high standars in quality, but this act proves MR's lowest of all the human attitudes. Fools! Killing the name of Sri Lanka in the eyes of outsiders. Few Tubelights blames international community, if the international community implement sanction on Sri lanka, then you guys have to lick the floor for food... or better grow Mayok in the gardens instead of flowers.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:28 PM

Oh yah, if only he contested with the roughs then he would have been well looked after.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:10 PM

any body aware of his statement pirror to his arrest ..saying he was going to give evidence agsint sri lanka in a war crimes tribunal...

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:06 PM

People like you are selfish creatures trying to hide behind corruption, lies, deceit. What do you know about civic right.?

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:20 AM

A bad move, in many ways! Will be perceived as 'power-hungry leaders misusing their power' - the image of Sri Lanka and its leadership will suffer! Gives a rallying point for a soundly defeated coalition; takes the focus away from what can (and needs to) be done in the country; and, ignites party animosities creating an unhealthy environment for the General Election.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:59 PM

Cardboard 'heroes' are going to court-martial a real hero. This is 'Zimbabwe.'

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:51 PM

Dictatorship! When will Sri Lankans open their eyes and see the tyranny?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:24 PM

Nothing to fear General. Millions and millions are with you, to save you and, in the meantime, to teach a lesson to the ruthless rulers. Today they might smile - tommorrow, they will have to mourn.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:22 PM

Those who take the knife, will be stabbed for sure.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:19 PM

Now you have 'enough security.' Cheers!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:18 PM

The country is bleeding of injustice!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 11:09 PM

You are the real war hero. The whole country respects you for this. This is the most shameful way to treat such a great leader. May God protect him!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:56 PM

This kind of thing happens only in Sri Lanka ... get all the 'dirty work' done, and then, treat them like 'dirt'!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:56 PM

The 'million dollar question' is why try a (now) civilian in a military court? Also, for 'crimes' he allegedly 'commiitted' after officially vacating all military positions? 'Coming colours not good'!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:40 PM

Don't worry General, we are with you! We swear to God that we are going to make it obvious how many people love you in Australia!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 10:33 PM

Dear General, you survived a bomb blast ... getting arrested is nothing for you, because you are a genuine leader! I salute you!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:06 PM

It's high time for people to rise-up agains't this tyranny. 'Banana Republic' indeed!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:18 PM

Sri Lanka A Land Like No Other! So true. We should be ashamed of what's going on. Guess we are on reverse gear!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:17 PM

You are a fool, not only a traitor!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:17 PM

Judgment is on the way ... Something is about to happen that will shock this nation and the whole world !

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:15 PM

    God will show His power!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:13 PM

    GOOD MOVE.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:12 PM

Arrest his 'arms-dealer' son-in-law too, and get the facts out.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:12 PM

SL, is under a dictatorship ...

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:10 PM

SF, the Triple-Gem will protect you!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:07 PM

Well it's time he faces justice for the things he said against both the Army and the country. He should have been arrested before!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:07 PM

    MALUWA NAHINNE KATA HINDA ...

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:22 PM

Not given any representation - no lawyer, no calls and no one knows where he is at the moment - not even his family?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:06 PM

Finally, SF has got what he was asking for!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:58 PM

He was trying to let-down the whole country, to take revenge from MR & Gota. Very good for him - not only court-marshaled, his civic rights too, should be cancelled. Now his plan is to give bogus evidence, in international courts, to punish MR and Gota. This should be stopped, by all means.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:57 PM

Now the ruling party has given me a reason to vote against them ... I have had enough of this government.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:53 PM

It's a "Good Cop, Bad Cop" game. Soon MR will pardon SF. This is SRI LANKA!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:44 PM

A disgrace to the nation. Nowhere in the world, does this type of mad thing happen. See how other countries treat their war heros. Shameful!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:43 PM

We are with you General! One day, your chance will come!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:37 PM

Sad story. It is going to be like another North Korea!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:33 PM

Dear Gen. Fonseka ... We are with you ... It's a sad day for Sri Lanka ... We want you to be even stronger now !

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:30 PM

Sir, SARATH FONSEKA ... Millions of people are with you, forever !

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:06 PM

It's a very sad day for Sri Lanka - never have politicos sunk so low, as now. Burma, Iran, Somalia & Zimbabwe, come to mind. It appears that SL has joined them.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:44 PM

We are with you Gen. Fonseka! God is there ... people who do bad, will get their return!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:38 PM

Which act meant 'letting down the country'? Leading the war victory or contesting the Presidential election?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:37 PM

By arresting a war hero, SF, our regime has proved to the world that they don't care about democracy.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:28 PM

Who is the dictator now? MR or SF? It is really sad that a true hero of the country is being treated in such a disgraceful manner ...

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:21 PM

SF, NORTH EAST TAMILS ARE WITH YOU !

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:16 PM

What is the point of saying this and that? Ranil & all of the JVP are sitting-down, doing nothing. We need action: Not sympathy!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:11 PM

General sir, don't worry, we are all with you ... never get demotivated ... this will give you more strength to someday get-back at this bunch of jokers and takeover our motherland! 'SF RULZ'!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:06 PM

    Sir, we are with you!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:06 PM

May I ask a question from our rulers, if Sarath Fonseka had committed such offences, why did you all wait for so long ... you could have arrested him a long time ago?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 06:30 PM

Cowardly moves, by those who are fearful of being exposed !

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:04 PM

I think this the beginning of something big, which is about to happen ...

    Monday, 08 February 2010 08:00 PM

This is the end of democracy in Sri Lanka and the new beginning of a dictatorship! I hope these people 'rot in hell'! God save Sarath Fonseka!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:59 PM

    Justice, at last !!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:45 PM

It's time! What took them so long?

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:45 PM

America, United Kingdom and the European countries, please intervene immediately!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:39 PM

He did not plan a coup, neither a murder nor reveal state secrets. These are diabolical lies, made up by diabolical & evil people.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:32 PM

The opposition must aggressively react, on this issue.

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:28 PM

It is very sad situation. He came through the democrotic process, insted of trying to gain power by a military coup. Everybody can understand what the motive is. Now Sri Lanka's democaracy, is in grave danger!

    Monday, 08 February 2010 07:28 PM

    'Maharaja,' go to hell!
