Presidential Candidate General Sarath Fonseka who is at a hotel in Colombo surrounded by the military, spoke to Daily Mirror online a short while ago and urged President Mahinda Rajapaksa to give him security guarantees to leave the hotel.
Speaking to Daily Mirror Online the General stated that he feared for his security and did not want to leave until the government assured his security. “I feel they intend to arrest me and question me on leaking military secrets. I want the government to ensure my safety,” he said.
However the government denied stories that his freedom of movement was being restricted.
“There is no question of stopping him from leaving. We are not restricting his freedom of movement however if he tries to leave the hotel without proper security we will advice him. We don’t want him to move unless we are confident of his safe passage as he exits the hotel,” Minister Rabukwella told Daily Mirror Online.

Is it a crime to contest and loose????? I fail to see any reason to make him feel unsecure. It was a bitter campaign where state resources were baltently abused, yet at the end of the day the election was conducted in a fair manner and people have given their verdict. In a democracy we got to accept results with dignity and courage and carry on as if nothing happened. Country lost valuble man power and resources and everything came to a stand still for the last few days. Let's get on with our life.

Politics is a different ball game Mr Fonseka. You miserably failed to understand it and became a scape goat for UNP/WEST/JVP. Now dont be the first witness in the war crime tribunal....keep your mouth shut.
Wish you all the best Mr President and hope you have got the message eminating from Galle/Kandy electorates and will contain corruption and political fingering in every sphere of social life in future.
People has not let down you.... and pay their gratitude. Now it is your turn again.

FONSEKA HAS PROVED HIMSELF TO BE A CHEAT AND A FRAUD AND WITH NO POLITICAL BACKGROND. HIS HELPERS RANIL, SOMAWANSA AND THE JVP LED HIM TO DEFEAT. NOW THE BEST THING IS TO CONFESS THAT YOU VIOLATED THE CONSTITUTION AND WAS TRYING TO ASSASSINATE THE PRESIDENT.
