100KMPH is nothing new to us. Before 80s we wish to go at a speed of 60 MPH in our old Hilman Mins car. This are much advanced cars which can go faster than them, what we need is the carefulness. we need to keep sufficient space and the maximum speed allowed.

All governments before 2006 only planned. They never executed anything. To give the devil his due, Mahinda is the only leader who started anything. As for speed.... people have to learn to obey and stick to the road rules. Some roads overseas are worse that our roads. But they still travel over 100km per hour because they are disciplined drivers. Sri Lanka is full of idiots who think they have PhDs is all knows subjects. This is the main problem with mother Lanka. God help us.

the travelers on highways are all sections of the society. many go to Kataragama via Highway. they are common people. the benefits gained from new roads are for the country and not for individuals

problem of accidents is not with the highways or the vehicles but with uneducated drivers. like in many countries we should introduce written tests in addition to practical test by a three member board of examiners at a special yard made for such tests. it is common knowledge any idiot can get a heavy vehicle driving licence at a price. proof of this is the way the tipper drivers disregard the traffic rules

Gamini only displays his ignorance about direct and indirect taxation. People like Gamini thinks that its only the urban people who pay taxes. The reality is that the urban population are the biggest tax dodgers.

Unfortunately according to the loan contracts of the previous regime, these projects will cost more if stopped mid-way. Better to complete it even though it is expensive is the wiser choice.

Whatever said and done there is visible development work carried out.It is time for the current regime to step up; 6 months gone and what we are still seeing is only talk and opening / commissioning previous government work.

Ban all type of vehicles which have more than 100km/h odometer. import or assemble the vehicles which can run maximum velocity of 100km/h. No need to bring over design vehicles to run at a maximum velocity of 100km/h.

Construction at a reasonable cost with out corruption is very important as these loans have to be paid back while spending more money for the maintenance work of these highways.
