Fares increased on E01

Bus fares for passengers on the Southern Expressway have been increased by Rs.70 the National Transport Commission (NTC) said.

NTC Chairman Roshan Gunawardena said fares will be raised from Rs.400 to Rs.470.

He said though private and STLB buses had increased their fares up to 20%, buses on the Southern Expressway plying from Galle to Maharagama would only charge 17%. (Olindhi Jayasundere)

    Too much for Rs. 70/-. If travel 50 passanger a bus income increased by 3,500/- for 100 KM journey. 100 KM fuel consumption will be 25 litres (4 KM per Lt) of Diesel or Rs. 775/- (25 x 31/-). Then a single journey, bus owners can save Rs. 2,725/-. per day 2 trips they can earn Rs. 5,450/- per day and Rs. 136,250/- per month (25 days)
