Expressway earns 5 million in 12 hours

The Southern Expressway netted a total income of 5 million rupees for the 12 hour period ending at 7 am today.

Accordingly 18,300 vehicles used the expressway during the said time.

Reports said that the there was severe congestion at the Pinnaduwa exit point with vehicles being stalled for over an hour and a half prior to reaching the exit point resulting in two entry doors also being opened for exit. (Bimal Shaman Jayasinghe)

Brother , they did to earn comission , it is a blessing in disguise to country , The distance between Sharjah & Dubai Air port is just 10 KM , but our is around 100 KM , it was the plan of UNP / Gamini Dissanyake to have two air ports , !!!

We have plenty of investment priorities which gives a return than port and airport. Ring roads around colombo connecting the city centre, improve rail to reduce buses entering colombo, mono rail ??

The Southern Highway was built under a loan offered by Asian Development Bank. The loan has to be settled within a fixed term. This income is used to repay the loan and maintenance of the road and other services related to the highway. However it will take a considerable time to start earning profits due to the huge loan repaying obligation.

What was the cost of the Expressway between Kottawa and Pinnaduwa? What is the maintenance cost for a month? What is the income per day? Then we can get a good picture of the economic performance of this huge investment.

THis what we should have done . Building a very good road network connectiong all parts of the country .it would have given us good return on invetments rather than building uesless airports and habours , I dnt think any country in the world have two international airports within 20 mins flight times between themall this country need is a one good international ap may e two domestic ap's and a very good road network as if the road net work is there we can travel from one end of the country to the other in two hrs. i hope rulers of our country will think properly leaving the ego asid and waste our monry or may be borrowed money and do proper strategic investmens for the sake of this country which is going down at a rapid rate..
