Expressway earns 437, 500 from towing vehicles

Police have taken steps to charge for towing vehicles that breakdown on the southern expressway. Director Operations and Maintenance T.K.Ranathunga said they charge Rs.2500 to tow vehicles that developed a technical defect to the nearest exit point.

He said the amount collected for the last 29 days for towing vehicles was Rs. 437, 500. He said towing of vehicles had been free until the police decided to charge for it last month. (Buddhika Kumarasiri)

Ok, can someone tell me charge Rs.2500 is included with southern expressway ticket? I saw in news paper it say Sri Lanka insurance have Insured all of this and this part of them so why are we paying extra money.

if your vehicle is not road worthy, then you must re-think of using the expressway. Authority should use this fund to make sure more safety methods implemented for motorists.

Avg 6 vehicles breaking down a day means vehicles need to be in better shape to be on a fast road. This is a good move. Well done!

You must have meant the expenses involved in towing broken vehicles free of charge, right? That money spent up to the time this scheme got implemented is gone now. From last month they will be recovering that expense.
