Ex-policeman arrested for fraud

A former police officer was arrested for allegedly taking more then Rs.3 million from several individuals by forging documents to get their children admitted to popular schools in Kandy and Negombo.

Two women who aided him were also taken into custody by the Central Province Police Operations Division. 

One woman in custody is a wife of a STF Sergeant, and the other is the wife of a former senior official of the Navy. Police said the two women were directly involved in the fraud. 

The main suspect had vacated post when he was attached Murukkan police.  He is a resident of Werellagama area.  A senior official of the division said several complaints against the suspects are also being inquired currently.
