Ex-parte trial for defamation case

The defamation case against the Sunday Leader filed by Defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa demanding compensation of Rs. 1000 million was fixed for ex-parte trial on Feb.09, 2011 by Mt. Lavinia Additional District Judge due to the absence of the respondent party.

The case filed by the Secretary of Defence against the Sunday Leader and Leader Publications for publishing an article tarnishing his reputation was taken up before Mount Lavinia Additional District Judge today.

The case will be taken up again on the 29th of May. (AW)
