The Colombo District Court today issued an enjoining order preventing UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and General Secretary Tissa Attanayake from expelling Gampola Urban Council Chairman Sarath Hettiarachchi from party membership until December 1.
Plaintiff Hettiarachchi said he met President Mahinda Rajapaksa on November 15 and extended his support to the Government to carry out its development activities.
He told Court that the UNP was planning to expel him from the party following his meeting with the President. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

According to the constitution if you leave the party which you have been elected you have to leave whatever the legislature is because people have voted you of a particular party. The person next in the list will replace you. What is the UNP doing is correct. To prevent this a court decision is taken.
