High speed internet is essential for the development of a country in modern world. Politics should be left aside. People should not view everything through politics, thus willing to sacrifice even the future generations for short political gains.

Is this a subtle way of suppressing the social media freedom which made possible criticizing his brother in power.

The facts mentioned here are 100% true. When the unit headed by Siriwardena started monitoring broadband speeds and posting those stats on web, service providers started improving their quality of service and speed to maintain their reputation. One company was charging millions of rupees from Education Ministry to provide very slow internet to schools, Siriwardena stopped that and started providing fibre links to schools. A senior lecturer in Moratuwa university was part to this scam. Officers within TRC was not comfortable with Siriwardena since he was doing some good work which threatened their status quo.

Looks like ???? is single-handedly responsible for developing the broadband market! This biased story is obviously planted by him or his friends. We expect better from a respected media outlet like DM.

There has been many issues in the TRC and Sri Lanka Telecom. It is time to have all this investigated by the Bribery Commission
