Taxing the people for the govt's inefficiencies is not the remedy. Privatize the CEB and other loss-making corporations.

    RATA PERATA API WALATA

    RamUk Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:46 AM

rather than passing the increase to ordinary people should not give free electricity to public organizations. Or at-least recoup the debt on government organizations.

Sarana Simion Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:49 AM

How about giving the RED Light to stop corrupion in these departments.

government strategy is to encourage corruption and then recover the corruption expense from the public.

    John Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:58 AM

....and for not checking the costly inefficiency/productivity & rampant corruption at CEB, which contribute heavily to the cost to us consumers.

ARE THOSE IN POWER TOTALLY BLIND TO SEE NOT A SINGLE PERSON LIKES THE INCREASE?

    sss Wednesday, 17 April 2013 11:24 AM

It is not IMF. Someone has to pay the loans for the mega projects. Hope those will bring in dollars in future. Otherwise people are toast and the ones who initiated them will be happily retired probably in another country

    bimba Wednesday, 17 April 2013 11:29 AM

NWSDB said that they arranged to reduced cost by increasing productivity and arresting leaks with unauthorised tapping. The result was no water bill hike. Why can't CEB do the same with eradicating corruption inside ( I know their estimation for new connection etc very very high)
