Eighty percent of students selected for university education had arrived in the military bases to participate in the leadership training programme as of 2.30 pm today despite some political parties requesting parents not to send their children for it, officials said.

Higher Education Minister Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne told Daily Mirror today that the programme was a great success during the day.

Dr. Navaratne said that though some people had dubbed this as a military training, it was only a programme that aimed at promoting ‘positive thinking and attitudes in university students. (Kelum Bandara)
