Eight youths who pleaded guilty for possessing ganja sticks at the Galle Face Green on the Vesak Poya day were ordered to pay a fine of Rs.40,000 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.
The eight accused had been arrested by Fort police.
When the accused, L.T. Suranga of Biyagama, P.K. Dulan Perera of Ragama, Sujan Janaka Dissanayake of Ragama, Pradeep Madurantha of Kadawatha, Mahesh Chathuranga of Kadawatha, Sampath Wijesinghe of Pepiliyana, Udesh Rukshan of Pepiliyana and Nilantha Pushpa Kumara of Gonawala, were produced before Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, the each accused were ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000 each.
