Eastern Province schools closed

Schools in the Eastern Province except those in Dehiattakandiya and Maha Oya education zones will be closed till Wednesday due to the bad weather conditions affecting the province, Provincial Education Director M.T.Nizam said today.

He added that this decision was taken after permission was taken from the Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan.

Meanwhile Vavuniya District Government Agent P. S. M. Charles said today that schools in the Vavuniya District will also be close until Wednesday.

Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) are housed in schools in these areas due to the prevailing weather conditions and floods. (Rifthi Ali)
