Three people are believed to be buried following an earthslip in Jayawadanagama, Battaramulla which occurred a short while ago. Our reporter said that Rescue operations are currently underway.

Couldn't imagine that earth slips occur in place like Jayawadanagama. I hope these people are alive and well.

This is due to poor town planing. No proper drainage system for rain water when house are built and cutting down on hillocks and embankments.

It's not actually an earth slip. Water board is digging the road for repairing a drainage line. when workers are working inside the hole, surrounding walls collapsed on top of them. To make matters worse a water main line also got breached.

one person died. other two injured seriously and it took more than 2 hours to get them out.
