People Alliance Colombo District Parliamentarian Duminda Silva who was accused to have raped an under-aged girl was discharged from the charges by the Colombo High Court today.

High Court Judge Sunil Rajapakse yesterday released Duminda Silva consequent to Attorney General withdrawing the case against the accused acting in accordance with submissions of Counsel M.C.M. Muneer appearing with Akalanka Kulasinghe for the virtual complainant and the aggrieved party.

The counsel filing an affidavit submitted that his client is not in a position to give evidence in this case as she had undergone discomfort during the cross examination. He said his client is not in a position to face further cross examination and said that the victim had revealed this through an affidavit. (T. Farook Thajudeen)

Perhaps the reason is this girls is not a minor anymore!
Wow this is a very good news to all, may be the best way to evade the court of law is threatening the witness and the plaintiff altogether, and the court is seems to be not having any problem with that, I will note that I think everyone else should.
