The real reason sri lankan expats want dual citizenship is not because of the love for the motherland nor to invest in Sri Lanka for for the betterment of its citizens. The majority of Sri Lankan expats wants dual citizenship irrespective of ethnicity is to sell the property they own mainly from inheritance in Sri Lanka tax free n take the money to their countries n settle part of thief existing mortgages in their country of residence. The minority reason though is to buy properties in Sri Lanka which they benefit from the weakening rupee value as form of investment cos property value in Sri Lanka always rises n its affordable for average exact living in the west n they can avoid taxation on savings in the west.

IF YOU ARE NOT LOVING YOUR COUNTRY & need to live abroad for ever, let them sell everything they belong and go away.. No point having them anyway.
YOU STILL LOVE YOUR COUNTRY &: also you doing well in foreign country, most likely you help families or even supports your village temple as much as you can. While you enjoying the benefit of citizenship of foreign country. (Education, Social & welfare benefits)
Our neighbor India, immensely benefit from its vast amount of Overseas Citizens living in abroad.
