Dr. Shirani to be barred from leaving country

The Bribery Commissioner had told Chulananda Perera, the Controller of Immigration and Emigration yesterday not to allow former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake to leave the country until the investigations into the corruption charges against her were completed, officials said.

The Bribery Commission has started investigating the charges against her. According to the law, the Commission has the right to prevent people facing bribery charges leaving the country. (Jayantha Samarakoon)

    The chief justice is overseas on some business while a number of cases against him are pending. He should not be allowed to leave the country if the ex CJ shirani Bandaranayake is not allowed to leave the country.
