He is not a soldier to be there all the time, when there is a necessasity to spk he has to come and tell whatever is right and then should go into the shell. Because there are too many owl running the country so, there is no necessity for a professor to mendle with it, non of these buggers are educated enought to understand

He was a Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He is one of the very few Emeritus professor of Sri Lanka. I think he is not anymore with any SL Universities - not seeing him in either UOP or UOM engineering faculties nowadays

It is time that Politicians sat down with University Dons and discussed what to do about non-productive Universities. Producing unemployable graduates in subjects like Pali and other dead-end subjects is not the way to go.

    Who care. Another jvp hand.

Afker Hussain Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:57 PM

    Hi University Teachers for Democracy;

So what is the solution? Private universities? Allow the state universities to rot like "CTB" and glorify the "brilliant " paid education?

Why not you give the solution as you are the educated after all?

Wijendra Dehipawala Wednesday, 03 November 2010 03:20 PM

90% of the blame goes to university professors. They don't properly do their duty. As I mentioned earlier, they work only few hours per week to repeat lectures given 20-30 years ago. They should give more home work, research work-research papers to students and guide them instead of giving an exam at the end of year. At the moment students don't have to goto lectures because they already have lecture notes, no reseach papers to write. They spend their time protesting and destroying public property

most of students who entering to the university not in good culture. this must start from home. then school. and then come to university. students has no responsibilites srilank an wants everthing free politiciasn should not interfear the university affairs..

    gune Wednesday, 03 November 2010 12:25 PM

    You are absolutely right,

    Jix Wednesday, 03 November 2010 12:22 PM

What have they said or done exactly for you to know for sure they are supporters of LTTE? If they speak on behalf of people, whoever and wherever they maybe from, whose rights are violated, does that make them LTTE supporters? Narrow minded simpletons like you are the reason we had the ruthless LTTE terrorist virus that destroyed the country and people in the first place!

    PWC Wednesday, 03 November 2010 11:35 AM

    Yes, it's true.

Oyage Podi Guru Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:30 AM

How about? Dons share the blame

    daham Wednesday, 03 November 2010 11:00 AM

Should children fight and attack their parents regarding facilities at home or should they understand the capability of them and try to solve problems getting together as a family?

    jayam Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:38 AM

Yes Sir, you all are partly responsible, otherwise how comes 5 Dons getting salary at Dental Faculty for doing nothing. You guys should be disciplined first.

    Ranjith Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:10 AM

One in a while this Don talks and earliet for LTTE and now Anti-Govt. Prof Kumar is a proxy NGO.

    Ranjitha A Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:00 AM

some of the reader do not read the news item properly. What the Prof. has said is that all the parties including teachers ( 'themselves') to share the blame. Of -course it is true. The Govt. Ministers did not blame the JVP for the past several years - until JVP was in their fold. When you listen to grievances of the Uni-students it is astonishing to note how ineffective the Uni-management is. Let all stake-holders sit and discuss their problem, prioritize them according to their urgency and solve it accordingly.

    malkanthi Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:52 AM

Educated 'Mahadanamuththas' it is a pity hardly a difference between educated and uneducated leaders.

    Jix Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:51 AM

An open and honest statement, but, where to from here sir?

    Dheen Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:51 AM

You are absolutely correct, so why not we find a solution to diffuse the situation!

    KP Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:48 AM

Those Dons who don't update/upgrade their degree programmes to make employable graduates are responsible for this.

Smart Aleck Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:47 AM

Yes! There are some "political brainwashers" among the Dons too.

    spark Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:39 AM

This statement and org confuses me - more. When their is no democracy in this country, how come an organisation University Teachers for Democracy?

    Lalith Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:36 AM

How are U Sir? Where are U now? Where have you been over the last two decades after U left Pera. You are now talking on behalf of people but if the country has not freed from terrorists you are still missing.

    prabodha Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:36 AM

    ridiculous. then go home.

Gayan Samarasekara Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:32 AM

Easy to blame. Difficult to correct.
