DNA test to confirm suspect in Payagala crash

The police are to conduct a DNA test to ascertain the identity of the suspect who is in police custody over the death of two cyclists who were knocked down by him on Saturday night in Payagala.

According to those who were in the vicinity of the accident, the driver of the vehicle was the nephew of  a Deputy Minister.

However they charged that the police have another 22-year-old youth into custody with regard to the incident. (SD)

    What is going on? does this sort of thing only happen in SL where the offender gets off and someone else takes the rap? this occurs to frequently

    Let us hope the authorities will perform a thorough and fair investigation to book the real offender

    Judgements given by King Kekille are now taken as precedents in arresting suspects: if the culprit is either a politician or a so-and-so of a politician, then catch the nearest man available and make him pay. How nice, Very nice!
