Minuwangoda Magistrate D.A. Ruwanpathirana said the DNA samples obtained from Saman Jayalath, the brother of Dunesh Priyashantha alias ‘Kondaya’, has matched the DNA obtained from the two strands of hair recovered from the body of Seya Sadewmi.

This was revealed after the Genetech Institute in Borella had handed over its confidential report to the CID which in turn submitted it to the Magistrate.

Earlier DNA samples were obtained from ‘Kondaya’ and a 17-year-old student and 33-year-old father of one. The student and the father were released later because the DNA samples obtained from them had not matched with that of recovered from the body of Seya. (Tony Karunanayake)

Why are they checking the DNA of two strands of hair instead of the semen of the rapist.

    Leo Thursday, 15 October 2015 09:02 AM

Did the politce beat up the DNA via DM Android App

    GAM Thursday, 15 October 2015 08:15 AM

Because the rapist washed all that evidence.

Sylvia Haik Wednesday, 14 October 2015 06:54 PM

I cannot understand why DNA from the hair which is weak and not DNA from the semen which is strong. This case is doomed to fail as the anomaly is obvious.

    mack Wednesday, 14 October 2015 06:53 PM

geezzz finally got the culprit or via DM Android App

    CitizenPerera Wednesday, 14 October 2015 06:41 PM

I am not trying to protect criminals but I have read that DNA samples can also be planted on victims where "innocent" have been framed. Read the book or watch the movie called "Presumed Innocent".

    Fishy !

    BuffaloaCitizen Wednesday, 14 October 2015 05:40 PM

This is common sense, but is that process and procedure being followed. Does this police know the simple abc of following such processes and procedures without singing kavi at press briefings? Does even one of them have analytical skills required of a detective?

    public Wednesday, 14 October 2015 05:40 PM

Because this case is doomed to failure.

    BuffaloaCitizen Wednesday, 14 October 2015 02:31 PM

That is scientific evidence and it is just one clue which the magistrate needs to understand is insufficient. Now where is the circumstantial evidence which means the evidence gathered intricately by the police (without beating the suspects into submissions)? Does our police have the competency (brains) for this kind of forensic work?

    Dinuka Wednesday, 14 October 2015 04:08 PM

The Police (SOCO) is well trained to collect biological evidence from a crime scene.

PARK FAZ Wednesday, 14 October 2015 04:03 PM

MR.SARANAPALA , if the police job and investigating process is that easy every one can become police and give verdicts on spot.., always there is a process and procedure to be followed ..,

    Shan Wednesday, 14 October 2015 03:59 PM

I too feel that the case is liquefied now. Police is primarily responsible for that.

    Jury Wednesday, 14 October 2015 03:49 PM

The Policemen should be sent to Prison for Man Assault..Without Trial

    SARANAPALA Wednesday, 14 October 2015 03:30 PM

Now what will happen to Kondaya?. Innocent people been assaulted, humiliated, took nude photographs. I am wondering why police chief is still hanging on to his position. Our president should take action.YAHAPALANAYA

    Sam Wednesday, 14 October 2015 03:04 PM

Waiting for the final verdict from the court.. should hang him

    Aruna Wednesday, 14 October 2015 02:52 PM

GIntech chairman was hung in bars and assaulted by Police to give the report positive for Kondayas bro. Anyway the credibility of this case is now lost.
