Development should continue: JVP

Commenting on the Government decision to suspend the construction work on the Defence Headquarters, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva today said they were not in favour of any attempt to halt development projects.

Construction work on the Defence Headquarters Complex in Battaramulla had been suspended as Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake announced that funds would not be released until the exact cost estimation of the project was clarified.

Mr. Silva said some of the projects commenced by the former government such as the Colombo Port City were harmful but the development should continue avoiding impacts. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
