Dead body on Wellawatte Beach

The body of a police constable attached to the Wellawatte police station was found on the beach near 42nd Lane This morning, police said.

 

The deceased was identified as 29 year-old K.G.S.Ariyaratne, from Hettipola, Matale. The trouser of the victim was found a few yards away from the body.

 

According to initial investigations the victim had left the Police station after the day’s duty in casual attire on Sunday around 9 pm. Police said there were some injuries on his face and body and police suspect it was a murder.

 

Meanwhile, two policemen attached to the Wellawatte police station were taken into custody for questioning as there were reports that these policemen were been with the deceased PC at a restaurant in Wellawatte the same night.
