World dirtiest police in Sri Lanka. When politicians are behind the police they act like dogs. General public pay their salaries and they hit the public in return
I never ever talk to policemen

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:16 PM

It seems all cops now a days act in a bad way.
Suspend all cops and rehire only the good ones.
Isn't that the Govt. policy putting all in camp saying that they want to weed out.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:21 PM

These culprits in uniform will get maximum a transfer order. Transfer is the only disciplinary action in SL police's history, even if they kill somebody.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:22 PM

Why only disciplinary action and no legal action? Assaulting a person is a violation of his or her fundamental right of freedom from torture. Police is not above the law.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:35 PM

These cops have managed to alter the face of the victim : a feat which can only be accomplished by an experienced plastic surgeon!

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:49 PM

    Never ending police brutality

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:52 PM

good way to protect the common innocent people

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 02:08 PM

Three Police men deserve same treatment from people. All Police men should be thought what is they can do and can't do within the law. Most of policemen think that they can hit people

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 02:37 PM

We need a decent police force not a bunch of thugs!

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 03:57 PM

    SL POLICE= THUGS

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 04:00 PM

this is very comman in srilanka law enforce officers are very ignorance in their duty. they need dimissed from servive .not transfers

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 01:02 PM

The tug of the parliament in nawalapitiya will take care of all his people who are upto similar misdeeds in the area.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 06:33 PM

The Police are there to serve and protect the people. They are not the people who should impose punishment on criminals who break the law. "The law of the land" will be carried-out by the courts, imposing sentences on those who break the law. The Police should assist the court system by bringing those who break the law, before the justice system, as soon as possible.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 06:56 PM

Wow! They took action against the police?

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 06:59 PM

What? Only 'suspended'? This is the easiest 'punishment' for them, so that they can save their faces and continue in another station. They should be given life bans from service.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:46 PM

    This is pathetic.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:20 PM

Transfer and suspension are 'eye-wash,' to the public. The case will be 'closed.' with these two actions.

    Thursday, 18 March 2010 12:36 PM

why are they doing like this? where is the the provisions of the constitution in which art 10 and 11.

    Thursday, 18 March 2010 12:54 PM

Where were thse sort of comments when innocent tamiill victims assaulted or even kiiled by cops n defence personnel

    Thursday, 18 March 2010 12:55 PM

May be he was a ltte suspect tried to escape from custody by using stole 3 wheeler

    Thursday, 18 March 2010 01:04 PM

majority of srilankan police are thugs are like this. they drink while they on duty, they take bribe, if you fail to give bribe, you will beaten up.so common mr sort this mess out.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:05 AM

Just another case for Human Rights and GSP+

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 09:26 AM

This type of brutality should stop immediately. These type of policemen are perverts who should be eliminated from the society.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:15 AM

If a civilian does this to someone he would have to face criminal charges. Why only suspension ? They should all face criminal charges.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:19 AM

Is this something new ? Cops' assaulting the public I mean. Those cops must be wondering if they have gone to another country !

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:29 AM

The same old story with the same old announcement..!!! Thats just a transfer, for them to continue with their same old sadistic activities in the new area too!!!

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:34 AM

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:45 AM

These errant police officers should be removed from the service.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:57 AM

Strict punishment for these cops is necessary to stop the most vulnerable of the population being subject to violence in the name of the law.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:03 AM

Dear Nish,,i never seen in my life any good manner police officer in my life... in sri lanka. This is not the responcible of that peticuler policeman.

Total police department responcible for this.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:04 AM

When these errant police officers are removed from service, there is no police force left.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 09:23 AM

Police officers must be watching too much of Hindi & Tamil films in which you see, policemen brutally beating innocent victims.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:12 AM

When the Police personnel are given extra powers to attack all the Opposition party supporters, these are the results of Police brutality. How can we get GSP+ with a Police State?

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:15 AM

it is very sad that innocent people like him are being treated in this way by the police.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:39 AM

Majority of victims are tamils. The policmen will only get a warning or furthest a transfer. Cool isnt it?

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:41 AM

what creatures are these so called police..........., are. when r they gonna work on behalf of people enough is enough

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 11:43 AM

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 12:01 PM

For some of the Three Wheel Drivers...I also feel to do this !.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 12:38 PM

    hi Nish,
how many would remain if d bad ones r sent home?

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 12:45 PM

Removing is not the answer they should be given proper punishment including sending to prison.

    Wednesday, 17 March 2010 12:52 PM
