Three police constables who were on duty at a musical show at the Monaragala Pradeshiya Sabha grounds have been interdicted for changing into civil attire and partying during the event.

They were interdicted by the SSP Monaragala with immediate effect after senior officers who visited the festival ground on an inspection arrested the two constables for neglecting their duty and allegedly being under the influence of liquor. (Daily Mirror online)

MUST APPRECIATE THEIR GOOD SENSE IN CHANGING TO CIVILIAN CLOTHES RATHER THAN NO CLOTHES AT ALL !

The partying instinct is addictive. The police are always celebrating one thing or another. I live near some police quarters, and the week never passes without the police personnel partying. And do you think in Sri Lanka they can party without liquor.

There is so much lawlessness among cops in the news lately. Are we recruiting the right people the right way ? or do they have poor leaderships ? Right action, as in this case will restore public confidence and send a clear message to all the black sheep.

Who knows: maybe they were smart cops who went in civvies as decoys to catch the trouble makers at the show!

    Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:08 AM

Poor little fellows! big fellows are partying with big people, nobody dare to interdict!

    Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:20 AM

    Should be punished.

its not a matter of poor or big or whatever, they were on duty, that was their job, what they were paid for. break the rule, pay the consequences.

    Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:32 AM

If the constables have the right connections, they will be back on duty sooner than can be imagined

    Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:34 AM

Definitely, but not applicable to big fellows, in duty, which is their job, and paid for, break the rule and Do Not pay for the consequences!!

    Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:42 AM

Yes that's very correct , they were on duty do a job of work not to join the party

    Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:49 AM
