Chinese national with ammunition arrested

A lone Chinese national was taken into custody yesterday along with his fishing trawler in the sea off the Colombo harbour for possession of live and used M-16 ammunition, the police said.

They added that when the navy searched the boat, which had come from Mauritius, two live and five spent bullets used for an M-16 weapon were discovered.

He was handed over to the police for further investigations.
