The JVP today alleged that the government was planning to convert D R. Wijewardena Mawatha in Colombo -1 into a Casino Zone.

JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath told a news conference today that this is a betrayal similar to the Kandian convention.

“The Kandian convention under which Sri Lanka was handed over to British was singed on March 2 1815 and the present government too had committed a similar betrayal by planning to hand over land in Dr. Wijewardena Mawatha to multinational companies“, he said stating that it is sad to know that such a thing is happening on the anniversary of the Kandian convention.
