Grow up guys .Casinos were there for a long time. Why not legalise it and let the country earn some money and those who can afford it enjoy it . If you have a moral issue about it don't go in there . What about lotteries and betting centers where all the poor folks put in their money. We have had it for decades ! Whats the fuss !! its been happening for a long time .
Hope they legalise prostitution too ! It has been happening too for a very long time !!

    Democract Thursday, 11 November 2010 03:00 AM

I wounder whether the JHU voted for this Bill.If so they are real hypocrites. What was the Minister Champika's stand?

Some people are certainly going to be richer than they already are. Wont be surprised if they say 'No Sri Lankans Allowed In' on the door.

    anura Thursday, 11 November 2010 07:26 AM

Strictly "No entry" for local sri lankans

    victoria Thursday, 11 November 2010 07:50 AM

Next bill will " BROTHEL HOUSE BILL"

    Muditha Thursday, 11 November 2010 07:52 AM

The word you're looking for is IMMATURE.. Thailand has one of the worst crime rates in the country and prostitution is sky high in Bangkok... Children are kidnapped and sold for the sex trade in Thailand and they have no way to stop it... Rich get richer while the common man suffers even more... There's informed development and then there's blind development... get your facts straight..

    Democract Thursday, 11 November 2010 08:18 AM

Lets hope the JHU will nor get into the Casino business.

    Hasiya Thursday, 11 November 2010 08:25 AM

What is wrong with a monk having to drive a car. They do it in other countries. You may not be a buddhist but the monks do sacrifice their lives, have some respect.

JHU has not done anything to eradicate smoking and boozing from the country. now they are promoting gambling. is this the dharma rajya they pledged to create

    chandanafe Wednesday, 10 November 2010 02:05 PM

U should not insult the monks eventhough few of them misleading the general public. Mojority desreve the respect

NADARAJAH SETHURUPAN Wednesday, 10 November 2010 01:49 PM

All gaming regulatory decisions must reflect these public policy mandates.

    sujeewa Wednesday, 10 November 2010 01:49 PM

all budhists monks are not in JHU.Ape loku hamuduruwo iwasa wadaranawa.

    Wasantha Wednesday, 10 November 2010 01:38 PM

Very good move. Amendments would allow the monks to play casino. It is better than being in the parliament and misleading the general public.

Next amend the motor transport bill to be enabled the monks to get the driving licence. They can accelerate the journey to
    "'DHARMA RAJYA".

    Kadira Wednesday, 10 November 2010 04:27 PM

    What about a wife?

Is SLMC supported the bill? What a shame if it is so.

Saliya Wickremasuriy Thursday, 11 November 2010 12:59 AM

Wasantha's is not a response but a reaction. "Very good move" is contradictory with the rest of the opinion.
