Buffaloes involved in ploughing paddy fields during the Vap Magul ceremony at Anthuduwawela in Hali-ela, had refused to respond to Minister Dilan Perera who took part as the Chief Guest.

His attempts to drive the buffaloes failed and ultimately the farmers as usual drove the buffaloes while the minister walked with them with a stick in hand.

The state ploughing ceremony was organised by the Haliela Divisional Secretariat, Pradeshiya Sabha and the Agrarian Services Centre. (Palitha Ariyiawansa)
