If the effort is genuine, move could be beneficial to the public.

Enna appa gamarala, the prison has been there for the last 135 years and it's a pretty building. It is not going to get utilized more than what it is now.

"Health is Wealth", This should be converted to a Hospital and added to the Kandy general Hospital as Hundreds of patients are either sharing a bed or sleeping on the ground. Let our health standards improve. We don't need any other tamashas!

I am a Kandyan and look at the congession in the town no proper traffic plan, look at lake side road traffic can take up to hours as how many schools and hospitals are on that road.Look at Katugastota kandy road its a nightmare like wise Kundasale kandy road another nightmare.Peradeniya to kandy is similar.Prison has to move, proper bus stops should be built and goodshed is terrible and our most iconic Kandy Railway staion is pathetic. We are proud of our history and heritage but in comparisson to south development Kandy is 5o years backwards thanks to all our UNP/PA ministers who has done nothing and the 2nd city of Sri Lanka does not even have a highway.Shame and shame

In terms of this ordinance all lands, ownership of which could not be proved were decided to be state lands. It still exists. And those lands belong to the state. Not the Almighty President.

The Bogambara prison is an eyesore to the beautiful city of Kandy. The sooner it is demolished the better for the town. This is very valuable land that could be utilized for many purposes that would enhance the city of Kandy.

what Crown Land ? we are not under the CROWN anymore now under the carpet
RanjithT Monday, 16 December 2013 12:53 PM
How could this be? Prison land is crown property and President is an individual has no right to the ownership of crown land.
