A body of man was found this morning in the Diyawanna Oya close to the Parliament.
Police media spokesman Ajith Rohana said that the police was informed by several residents in the area about the body. Police officers from the Welikada Police Station rushed to the scene immediately and steps were taken to recover the body.
The police are yet to determine his age and identity as the body is heavily bloated.
The body is about three days old, the police said. The Kaduwela Acting Magistrate had visited the scene where the body was found and inspected it before it was dispatched for a post mortem examination.
Police officers from the Welikada Police Station rushed to the scene immediately and steps were taken to recover the body.
The police was informed about the body by several people in the morning due to a strong smell in the area. (Supun Dias)
