Blast injures one in Trinco

An explosion in the Sampur area in Trincomalee injured a 38-year-old female resident in the area, last night the Sampur Police said.

They said the explosion had occurred around 7 pm yesterday in the compound of the injured. Initial investigations revealed that the explosion had taken place when the injured female had burnt the garbage she had collected.

Police said the reason for the blast was yet to be ascertained, and said that they believe that the blast was caused due to an Improvised Explosive Device. (A.A)
