UNP Puttalam district MP elect Range Bandara, who was brutally attacked yesterday, underwent an operation at the Colombo National hospital last night and is now recovering at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Hospital sources said that the UNP member was receiving treatment for his injuries on his left arm, both legs and head sustained following the attack on him while he was at a meeting in Chilaw last evening.
Two others including a policeman, who were also injured in the attack, are receiving treatment at the Chilaw hospital.
Meanwhile the suspects, including UNP member Shantha Abeyratna, who were arrested over the attack, will be produced in Court today. (Daily Mirror online)

Why only anti-government people ? Why can't all unite for this cause ?
And it was a home and home affair. Range was attacked by a UNPer.

Exactly. Some people here call him sir ! Why are people so driven by politicians ? All politicos of one side are angels and those of the other are all bad to them.
I wish Range speedy recovery, nevertheless. Let him come out of the hospital a reformed man, having tasted his own medicine.

This is a general thing, because Shantha is originally by Chilaw. But what Ranil did is put Range to Chilaw as Parashut and Shantha to another. So when leaders do such foolish things, we must expect these thing. Otherwise i personally know Shantha, how he is. He is really a leader who represent innocent people in Chilaw. We also regret his defeat..

Looks like Range Bandara has found a worthy competitor again, this time from his own party! Wishing him quick recovery....

Just proves the need for the Police to be far more pro-active to stop thuggery in the country and not have to waste its time removing election posters and cut outs.
Law and order is a priority in the country and those in public services who are anti govt, its time to put aside your diffrences and work towards making SL a better country for one and all.

Whilst wishing Range a speedy recovery, it may be appropriate for us to remind ourselves of the old wise saying 'you reap as you sow'.
